Nancy O'Dell's initial job in the broadcast industry was as a reporter/anchor for WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. O'Dell later became a morning news anchor on WCBD TV and was the crime reporter. While in Charleston O'Dell's reports regarding the police's lenient approach towards DUI cases led to the launch of a State Law Enforcement Division investigation that resulted in state authorities re-issuing a more stringent directive regarding DUI situations. Ms. O'Dell was awarded an award for the Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. O'Dell's experience in Charleston led her to serve as co-anchor, investigative report and NBC's Miami WTVJ-TV.
